Nevis Hillwalking Club

The Nevis Hillwalking Club is a small, friendly Lochaber-based club that organises a hill walk on every weekend of the year. It is not a climbing club. Technical equipment is used only when necessary for part of the walk, for example ice axe and crampons on winter routes, or a rope if useful for scrambling. Walks are a full day out on a Saturday or Sunday and members usually enjoy the adventure and challenge of reaching one or more summits.

A warm welcome is offered to new members and guests. We particularly want to increase our core membership of local people, to ensure a continuing solid base of regular walkers and a sound future for the Club. Guests are welcomed on two walks before joining.

Membership includes affiliation to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and the fee, currently £20 p.a., includes civil liability insurance. Persons under 18 years of age may join in activities if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. They may join the Club free of charge but must pay the affiliation fee, currently £8.45 and, for those under 13, £3.45.

Members are entitled to discounts at certain Lochaber outdoor shops. Go to the Club website www.nevishillwalkers.org.uk for:- Reports and pictures from recent walks. Quarterly programme and details of meeting places and times. Club Handbook containing the Code of Practice, Constitution and Rules. News of social and training events, and weekend expeditions.
