Since its formation in 2008, Red Note Ensemble has taken up a leadership position as Scotland’s contemporary music ensemble, performing and developing both an extensive, highly-varied and critically-acclaimed programme of new music.

People and Music Crossing Borders

Red Note presents a programme of short pieces from around the world that deal with the idea of journeys of music and peoples across borders.

This eclectic and very exciting performance of extremely varied music, ranging from beautifully melodic and rich folk-based works to wild, fast and powerful extracts from some of the 20th century’s greatest string quartets. There is something for everyone; love songs and keening elegies juxtaposed with crazy thumping rhythmic dances from around the globe. All played with the greatest passion and commitment by the strings of Red Note Ensemble.

Featuring Jackie Shave, Kathy Shave, Tom Hankey and Robert Irvine.
